Welcome to the K-pop corner at Malmö Festival!
A meeting place for everyone who loves K-pop. Here you can craft, socialize, and meet other fans. The day will conclude with an 2h long energetic Random Dance Play

The Battle of K-pop became a huge success in 2022 and 2023 – and now we are back, stronger than ever! Don’t miss the chance to be part of the magic and celebrate with us. This year, the competition will be held at the Malmö Festival celebrating its 40th anniversary!

The event is completely free and takes place outdoors.

Time: 5 PM – 8 PM
The competition starts at 5:00 PM and lasts until around 7:00 PM. After that, there will be Random Dance Play and K-pop hangout.
What is The Battle of K-pop?
An energetic K-pop dance competition organized by The Unnie Vibe Academy, where you can experience the colorful world of K-pop – full of style, pulsating music, and top-notch dance. At the Malmö Festival’s dance stage, dancers compete in spectacular, choreographed K-pop numbers in the battle for first place. The winner receives 5000 SEK.
OUR JUDGES
NEVIN CHEUNG, UK
Nevin Cheung is a professional dancer, choreographer, and actor with international experience across stage, screen, and studio.
He trained professionally in the UK and Korea, and is trained in commercial choreography, Hip Hop, Jazz Funk, House, and Locking. His career includes credits such as Wicked (2024), Clean Bandit’s summer tour, BBC (British Broadcasting Channel), as well as commercial campaigns for global brands including Chupa Chups and Samsung.
He is also the choreographer for SM’s boygroup Dear Alice. As a dance teacher, he has led sold-out classes across Europe, the U.S., and Asia, and has taught at renowned studios such as Playground London.
ULLA MIKKANEN, FINLAND
Ulla is a passionate dancer based in Helsinki, Finland, specializing in K-pop and commercial dance. She started dancing at the age of 17 during high school, when she and her friends formed their first dance group, High Definition.
In 2014, Ulla and High Definition had the incredible honor of representing Finland at the K-Pop World Festival in South Korea – a significant milestone in her dance career. Since then, she has performed and competed in a variety of K-pop events and competitions with groups such as Team Nuggets, Extension, and of course, High Definition.
”It’s a great honor to be a part of this event,” says Ulla. ”I really look forward to seeing all the amazing participants!”
JOEL ERTEKIN, SVERIGE
Joel Ertekin has been a part of the K-pop dance scene for several years and is a well-known figure within the community. In 2020, he co-founded the dance group Omnia, where he has since been an active member. With Omnia, Joel has performed on a variety of stages and events, including The Battle of K-pop, where he has also had the honor of winning in previous years.
His specialty is girl group choreography – a style he is particularly passionate about, reflecting both his precision and expression on stage.
Being a judge in this year’s competition is something Joel looks forward to with great enthusiasm:
